The Star Cancer Care Platinum Insurance Policy provides financial protection for individuals diagnosed with cancer. This policy helps insured persons manage medical expenses related to cancer and non-cancer treatments, offering peace of mind during their fight against the disease.

Policy Highlights

  • Policy Term: 1 yearType: Individual coverage
  • Eligibility: Persons diagnosed with cancer, aged between 5 months and 65 years. Proposer must be 18 years or older.
  • Sum Insured Options: Rs. 5,00,000, Rs. 7,50,000, Rs. 10,00,000 (Section I); Section II offers lump-sum cancer cover at 50% of Section I sum insured.
  • No Pre-medical Tests Required: Based on prior medical records and treatment details.
  • Flexible Premium Payment: Annual, half-yearly, or quarterly installments available with respective loading charges.

Section I – Indemnity Cover

  • Hospitalization expenses including room rent (Single Standard AC), nursing, surgeon, anesthetist, consultant fees.
  • Operation theatre, ICU charges, medicines, and diagnostic tests.
  • Emergency road ambulance expenses.
  • Pre-hospitalization (up to 30 days) and post-hospitalization (up to 60 days) medical expenses.
  • Coverage for day care procedures and AYUSH treatments.
  • Cataract treatment coverage with sub-limits depending on sum insured.
  • Medical second opinion service through Star’s network of doctors.
  • Wellness services including diet and nutrition programs, weight management, and specialist consultations via Star Tele-health app.
  • Rehabilitation and pain management up to 10% of the basic sum insured.
  • Hospice care up to 20% of the basic sum insured in the lifetime of the insured.
  • Health check-up allowance of Rs. 2,500 for every claim-free year.

Section II – Optional Lump Sum Cancer Cover

  • Provides a lump sum payment on diagnosis of recurrence, metastasis, or second malignancy unrelated to the first cancer.
  • Applicable after a waiting period of 30 months from the policy start date.
  • This cover is in addition to Section I indemnity coverage.

Waiting Periods

  • Initial waiting period: 30 days (except for accidents).
  • Specific disease waiting period: 24 months.
  • Pre-existing diseases including cancer: 30 months.
  • Hospice care: 12 months.

Exclusions

  • Pre-existing diseases within the waiting period.
  • Listed diseases and procedures during their waiting exception periods.
  • Cosmetic surgery unless medically necessary due to accident or cancer.
  • Investigations and diagnostics not related to current treatment.
  • Treatments for obesity unless criteria are met.
  • Change of gender treatments.
  • Rehabilitation not covered under the policy conditions.
  • Others detailed in the policy terms (e.g., alcoholism, hazardous sports injuries, fertility treatments).
